Team8 Physio Dee Why
Alex completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at the Australian Catholic University (ACU) before successfully completing his Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney (USYD).
Throughout his studies, Alex played rugby union professionally with the Australian rugby 7s squad before being contracted overseas to join La Rochelle in the Top14 and then later joined Edinburgh rugby in the Pro12. After 16 years of rugby and sustaining many injuries, Alex hung up the boots and turned to his focus to physiotherapy.
Alex spent many years playing for the Manly Marlins and has always been a passionate sportsman. From sustaining a number of injuries of his own, he can empathise and personally understand the struggle to overcome injuries. Having played with many professional clubs and working with high-level physiotherapists around the world, Alex has a diverse and strong rehab skill set to get you back performing at your highest level. He is especially interested in acute muscle injuries, tendinopathies and injuries to the hip and groin.
He has always loved helping people and following along with others’ journeys to help them get back to their best. His approach is caring and always very tailored toward your goals. Alex wants to be the person you think of when you or your family gets an injury, and you need someone that will be there for you.
When Alex isn’t working, he is getting outside to exercise, reading a good fiction book, and catching up with friends and family.
Riley completed his 4-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree at the Australian Catholic University (ACU), being awarded the Clinical Excellence award for 2022. Riley is an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and accredited ASCA Level 1 Strength Coach and continues to develop his strong interest in treating and managing sporting and gym-based injuries.
Riley has grown up and still resides on the Northern Beaches. When Riley is not in the clinic you will find him at his local gym (weight training), playing golf, indulging in fine foods around the beaches and spending time with his close family and friends.
Riley has a range of experience in both acute and rehab hospital settings, working with neurological, orthopaedic and post-surgical patients, giving him an appreciation of the human body and not only the physical but psychological impact Physiotherapy provides. He has also had extensive experience working with Manly United Football Club, where he managed and triaged acute and chronic injuries. Through working closely with these athletes Riley developed his ability to create and fine tune Strength and Conditioning programs to meet the goals of each and every player.
Riley has a special interest in treating acute and chronic sporting injuries, in particular knee, hip and groin related injuries. Riley uses a variety of techniques to help improve function and decrease pain, including exercise prescription, manual therapy, biomechanical analysis and patient education around their injury. As a whole his main interests are getting his patients back to what they love doing and reaching their goals.
Hey everyone,
I am Matthew. I am one of the physiotherapists here at team8 Physio. I graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and have since relocated to the Northern Beaches. After growing up on the Northern Beaches and moving away as a teenager I have always been keen to move back. I am passionate about providing the best support and care to help people achieve their goals.
I have a background of playing premier cricket in the ACT over several years and have gained an understanding of the importance of injury prevention and ensuring a safe return to play following injury. Outside of the sporting arena, I have a keen interest in musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation, post-surgical rehabilitation and assisting clients in optimizing their quality of life through physiotherapy.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family back in Bega, spending time at the beach and playing sport such as golf and cricket.
Mahsa Seydi
Physiotherapist | PhD | Women’s & Pelvic Health | Chronic Pain & Falls Prevention
Mahsa did her PhD in Physiotherapy at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Doing her
research at Neuroscience Research Australia, she explored how pain can quietly affect the way
people move, think, and stay balanced, helping create better ways to support their independence
and prevent falls. Her passion lies in helping individuals regain function, confidence, and
independence through personalised, evidence-informed rehabilitation. Her research has been
recognised in several international Health and Medicine conferences.
With over 5 years of hands-on clinical treatment experience, Mahsa has worked with people of all
ages, but especially thrives in supporting women through pelvic floor rehabilitation, including
urinary incontinence, constipation, vaginismus, and postnatal recovery, as well as older people
navigating chronic pain, falls risk, and reduced mobility.
Mahsa is qualified in dry needling, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise, and her strong
academic background complements her clinical expertise. Her unique combination of clinical,
academic, and international experience allows her to connect with diverse clients on both a
personal and professional level. She speaks English and Persian.
When she’s not treating clients or immersed in research, Mahsa enjoys walking in nature, working
out at the gym, playing tennis, and spending time with her family. Her goal is to be the person
clients trust, whether they are recovering from injury, navigating persistent pain, or seeking
specialised support in women’s health.
